A five-hectare Waipara, North Canterbury lifestyle property sold well recently after attracting plenty of interest.
Maria Rickerby of PGG Wrightson Real Estate, Amberley marketed the property, bordering Omihi Stream in Hurunui District.
“This unique property shows the love, creativity and hard work invested in it by the vendors: an absolute rural masterpiece featuring a lavishly renovated three-bedroom character dwelling set in a stunning garden surrounded by an olive grove, a lavender plantation, and fruit trees, nestled among the Waipara Valley vines, including its own vineyard planted in Syrah grapes.
“We offered it as a deadline sale with a price guide of $1.26 million. Each of our open homes attracted between eight and 12 different potential purchasers and in total 43 separate parties came to view, with many returning for more than one look, and some coming back four times. Local interest was strong, while parties from the North Island were also active. By deadline, we had received multiple offers,” says Maria.
The successful purchasers are moving from Auckland to be closer to family in Canterbury.
“Even in a hesitant market, a property with as many outstanding features as this will always generate enthusiasm from committed purchasers. This attracted excellent competition, resulting in a positive and satisfactory sale, with both vendors and purchasers delighted by the outcome,” says Maria.
