PGG Wrightson are privileged to bring to the market Waimumu Downs Limited, a well appointed 290 hectare, self contained dairy farm located on the outskirts of Gore.
Previously being the DSIR Agricultural Research farm, the property was converted to dairying in 2014 on the base of an excellent soil health and extensive re-grassing regime, and has been transformed over the past 10 years, with an extra 86 hectares added in recent years to complement the property nicely. Our vendors pride themselves in increasing farm production and efficiency and have a high emphasis on environmental care which has culminated in them winning numerous awards during the past decade.
Milking approximately 530 to 550 Jersey Cross cows through a 50 bail De Laval rotary shed with ACRs, and in-shed individual cow feeding system, enables a smooth, efficient operation with itemised feeding allocations per cow. The dairy platform is consented for 600 cows until May 2030.
Farm improvements include a large loafing pad, concrete wintering pad, numerous supporting sheds, plus a comprehensive internal lane system which provides excellent access throughout the property.
Stock water is pumped from a stream running through the property which is treated before supplying troughs in each paddock. Dairy shed and dwellings are on town supply.
Two comfortable, north facing homes provide more than adequate accommodation for owners and staff.
