At 394ha, "Allandale" is one of the largest flat contoured farm units in the Wairarapa region. Currently farmed as a large scale dairy grazing operation wintering 2000 cows and grazing up to 1000 R1 and R2 heifers. A major farm development programme has been undertaken over the last three years which has resulted in a highly profitable, standalone Dairy Support business producing high quality returns on investment on a sustainable basis. Alternative profitable enterprises may include bull beef or prime stock finishing.
The pasture renovation programme over the last five years has been completed in conjunction with new fencing, tracking and water supply. Paddock sizes have been standardised off a network of access tracks and an upgraded stock water reticulation system has been installed to meet industry best practice across the farm.
Crops grown include kale, fodder beet, rape and spring sown barley. Free draining Tauherenikau stony silt loam soils are consistent across the whole farm and are ideally suited to winter grazing and summer grain crops. Fertiliser history is excellent with recent soil tests averaging 32.4 Olsen P levels and pH5.8. The Moroa Water race runs through the farm and is fully fenced.
Improvements include a comfortable, recently renovated four bedroom home, two general sheds, two sets of cattle yards, one with a Gallagher weigh system and a woolshed with covered yards, suitable for calf rearing.
