Well known in the Tararua farming and broader community, Jason Waterman started his career at PGG Wrightson as a livestock clerk and rural supplies salesperson. After gaining some practical farming experience he returned as a Technical Field Rep, advising clients on animal health, cropping, fertiliser and farm development plans from 2007 to 2018.
Following a spell with another real estate agency, Jason returned to PGG Wrightson Real Estate as a Tararua-based Rural and Lifestyle Sales Consultant in January 2025, focusing particularly on Pahiatua, Eketahuna and Dannevirke, though also taking in the wider Manawatu and Wairarapa regions.
Jason has a reputation as a strong communicator, fully committed to working with vendors and purchasers to best achieve their property and business goals. A natural born relationship builder with a passion for the rural community, he prides himself on his people skills, ability to negotiate and exceptional customer service.
For three consecutive years in his previous real estate role, Jason won Agent of the Year for the Central Region.
Tararua born and brought up on a 300-hectare Waione family farm, along with his wife Kirsten, Jason has farmed in his own right since 2006, running 1,000+ stock units on 118 hectares in Ngaturi, which the couple initially leased, before accumulating the equity to purchase the property in 2016.
Jason has played for and served in leadership roles on the Eketahuna Rugby Club and the Tararua Squash Club. He also assists coordinating and facilitating a local farmer discussion group.
