With a name like Alabaster it should come as no surprise Lloyd was born right here in Taihape with the family actively farming in the area for over 40 years.

Starting out from a young age as a shepherd/fencer and then progressing to own his own shearing contracting business which at the time was one of the bigger employers in the district with 60-odd staff at the peak of the season, servicing a very large client base in the wider Whanganui/Rangitikei/Ruapehu Districts.

In recent years Lloyd has returned to the 1200ha family farm at Rangiwaea, in the northern Rangitikei.
